1. Overview
Dayfall is a local-first memory calendar. It helps you remember past days through photos, places, notes, events, and payment traces you add yourself.
Dayfall does not require a TimeBorns account or provide a TimeBorns cloud sync service. Your memory records are stored locally in the app and are not uploaded to a TimeBorns server.
Android system backup, place-name lookup, and the advertising SDK can involve separate third-party processing. You can also choose to export a backup or save or share a Memory Card. These cases are explained below.
2. Data Stored on Your Device
The following types of information may be stored locally on your device as a result of using Dayfall:
- Representative photos, stored as optimized, app-managed local copies with thumbnails
- Location records derived from places you stayed for a significant amount of time (see Section 3.2)
- Text notes and memos you write within the app
- Payment details you enter and the original payment text you paste when adding a record
- Calendar events, birthdays, anniversaries, and other important dates you enter
- App preferences and settings
Dayfall does not upload these memory records to a TimeBorns server. Backup, sharing, and third-party processing are described in Sections 3, 5, and 6.
3. Permissions Used
3.1 Photos and System Photo Selection
Dayfall requests photo library access on first use of a photo feature. Full library access supports finding a representative photo for a day automatically. On supported Android versions, you can allow full access, allow selected photos, or decline library access.
Manual selection uses the system photo selection interface, including Android's Photo Picker where supported. This is separate from broader library access: manual selection remains available where supported with selected-photo access or after declining library access. Dayfall stores an optimized local copy and thumbnail of the chosen image. There is no in-app camera capture feature in Android v1.0.
Dayfall does not upload your photos to a TimeBorns server. Copies may be included in backups or in a Memory Card you choose to save or share (see Sections 5 and 6).
3.2 Location (Including Background Location)
With your permission, Dayfall uses location, including background location, to remember meaningful places where you stayed even when the app is closed or not in use. Android may label background access "Allow all the time."
How location data is used:
- Only significant stay locations (roughly 15 minutes or more of continuous presence) are recorded. Continuous movement paths are not stored.
- Background location access, if granted, allows place detection even when the app is not actively open, so your day's location story can be reconstructed later.
- Stay records are stored locally. Dayfall passes coordinates to Android's geocoding service to obtain approximate place names. The system provider may process this lookup over a network; it is not a TimeBorns cloud sync service.
- Names may describe a neighborhood or district rather than an exact venue.
- Location accuracy depends on your device hardware, GPS conditions, OS-level battery optimization, and network environment. Dayfall cannot guarantee complete or perfectly accurate location capture.
3.3 Notifications
Dayfall requests notification permission to send local reminders for events you have added — such as birthdays, anniversaries, significant dates, and calendar entries — and gentle prompts to record or reflect on your day.
All notifications are generated locally on your device. No remote notification server is involved.
4. Payment / Transaction Records
Dayfall lets you add payment details as memory cues by typing them yourself or pasting payment message text. When a record is created from pasted text, the original pasted text is stored locally with the payment record.
Dayfall does not connect to financial institutions, banks, card networks, or any financial API. It does not automatically access or read your SMS inbox. Any payment records are added by you, stored locally, and serve as personal memory cues only.
5. Third-Party Services
5.1 Advertising
Dayfall's Android v1.0 build integrates Google AdMob (the Google Mobile Ads SDK). Banner ads appear at the bottom of the calendar home and day detail screens when an ad loads. A rewarded ad is requested only after you choose and confirm Memory Card creation; the card opens after the ad reward is confirmed.
Dayfall does not attach your memory records, notes, photos, pasted payment text, or stored place history to its ad requests. This is separate from the SDK's own data processing: Google describes collection and sharing of IP addresses, device or account identifiers, ad interactions, and diagnostic information for advertising, analytics, and fraud prevention. IP addresses may be used to estimate a device's general location. Processing depends on SDK configuration and applicable device and consent settings.

5.2 In-App Purchases
In-app purchases are not available in the planned Android v1.0 release.
5.3 Crash Reporting and Analytics
Android v1.0 does not integrate a separate app analytics or crash reporting service such as Firebase Crashlytics. The advertising SDK's own diagnostics and analytics are described in Section 5.1.
Recalling your locally stored memories does not require a TimeBorns account.
5.4 Memory Card Sharing
A Memory Card is generated on your device from the day's memories. When you choose to save or share it, a copy goes to the destination or app you select. That destination's handling of the shared content is separate from Dayfall's local storage.
6. Backup and Data Recovery
Dayfall backup files: You can manually create a backup encrypted with a password you choose, then select its storage destination through the system file interface. Restoring requires the backup file and its password. A destination you choose may be on your device or with a third-party storage provider. TimeBorns does not operate a cloud backup or remote recovery service.
Android system backup: Android Auto Backup remains enabled as a separate safety net. Depending on your device and settings, Android may back up eligible app data to your Google Account or transfer data to another device. Inclusion and restoration depend on the OS, device settings, storage limits, and backup rules. This does not guarantee that all photos or database records will be backed up or restored.
Keep your own encrypted backup file and password safe. If your device is lost, reset, or replaced without a usable backup, your memories may not be recoverable. You are responsible for maintaining your own backups; successful backup and complete restoration are not guaranteed.
7. Children's Privacy
Dayfall is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child under 13 has used the app in a way that raises privacy concerns, please contact us.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the app evolves. The effective date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of Dayfall after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
Changes that materially affect how your data is handled will be communicated through an in-app notice or an updated app store listing description.
